Farmer groups receive dairy buffaloes

Three farmer associations from Bohol received 21 heads of buffaloes from the Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA7) under the Livestock Banner Program.


DA7 Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador D. Diputado led the distribution of the 21 heads female buffaloes to the farmer-associations of Pilar, Ubay and Alicia.
These associations were the La Suerte Association of Vegetable Growers of Pilar which received 8 buffaloes, Ubay North Dairy Breeders Association of Ubay with 5 buffaloes and the La Hacienda Smile Dairy Association of Alicia which got 8 buffaloes.
Diputado, in his message, said that the buffalo distribution is part of the Expanded Livestock and Poultry Production Project under the Ahon Lahat, Pagkain Sapat Kontra sa COVID-19 (Alpas sa COVID-19) Bayanihan 1.
He reminded the beneficiaries to take good care of the animals as these are additional sources of livelihood.
He said that the farmers should give importance on the various assistance given by the government through the DA.
"Feed them properly and never let them starve inorder to produce and give substantial milk," Diputado said.
"Manghinaut ko nga inyo kining alimahan pag-ayo aron manganak kini (buffaloes) og kadaghan ug ato kining palambuon," Diputado added in Cebuano.
(I hope that you will take good care of these animals so that it will give more offspring.)
Rogelio Genita, Chairperson of La Hacienda Smile Dairy Association expressed his gratitude to Agriculture Secretary William Dar and to DA7 for this project as this will give them additional income.###
